On Monday, the day after I got back from Chicago, I got on a plane again with my friend and co-author Lisa Rice and we flew to Dayton, Ohio for me to be able to speak at a college chapel at Cedarville University. Two wonderful students who were so enthusiastic about Cedarville picked us up, and immediately Lisa started getting very intrigued about this great University. Cedarville is sort of placed out in the middle of nowhere in Ohio, yet has excellent academic standards. According to the Dean of students, Cedarville is in the top 12% of all schools nationwide in terms of SAT Scores and grades of the entering class. Cedarville is also a Christian University, and these students were certainly very enthusiastic about it. The next morning, I spoke at the daily college chapel of about 3,000 people. It’s a mandatory service, which to me was very interesting. I was very fascinated about the fact that they have a ...

Jeff and I flew to Chicago and drove across the border into Indiana for a 6-hour marriage conference at Faith Church, today. It was a productive long day with over 100 couples, and we both had to race out afterwards: jeff to catch the last flight out so he could get back for a talk tomorrow morning and me for a church service near Chicago that I had to be at just one hour after the Dyer event ended! The thing that most struck me today, was that on a Saturday - all day - more than 100 men loved their wives enough to sit in a room and listen to and talk about ‘relationship’ stuff: which does NOT come naturally to most men. The other thing that most struck me was to realize that during the question and answer time at the end, that women - even if they’ve been married for decades - still don’t realize that! Jeff and I structured the day to spend the first hour and a half explaining to women most of ...

After Jeff and I were done with the marriage conference in Indiana, we raced back to the airport to be able to catch the last flight out on Saturday night and get home. Parkview Christian Church sent a car to bring me so that I would be able to participate in both the evening services as well as the Sunday morning services. This was another pastoral interview with Pastor Tim, who is a fantastic guy, great pastor, and great interviewer. It’s a very big church with probably about 4,000 attendees on a Sunday. They had just moved into a new sanctuary, had already outgrown it, and were planning to build at a whole new building. Pastor Tim was actually one of a few “snowmobiling pastors” as I call them. He and three other pastors of similarly sized churches get together a couple of times a year. At the last one of their get-togethers he was reading to them from my book and they were all very ...

Jeff and I flew to Las Vegas for our second time in three months, for the annual meeting of the Southeast Chapter of the Young President’s Organization. For those who aren’t familiar with YPO, they are a terrific organization; essentially an association for any young and upwardly-mobile heads of businesses who want to network with others in similar situations. I always enjoy doing corporate events, and this one was a surprise in more ways than one! First of all, they put Jeff and I in a 5-star suite at the Wynn Resort, which was an experience in itself! We figured if we had to be away from the kids for three days on an event, this was the way to do it! The suite was about three times larger than our apartment in New York, with three televisions (including one in the massive bathroom suite), two restrooms, and absolutely stunning views of the city and mountains from both the bedroom AND the living room.& ...

Well, the first event of the new year was a doozy! I flew out to San Jose on Thursday with my husband Jeff and my co-author on For Young Women Only, Lisa Rice, to tape three telecast programs for Church Community Network, or CCN, and a few dozen behind-the-scenes segments about the research and writing of each of the three books, FWO, FMO and FYWO. Each of the three programs was an hour long in front of a studio audience, and each of the behind-the-scenes segments was three to five minutes long, so as you can imagine, by the end of the day I was totally, completely fried! The programs themselves, however, I think will end up being really valuable. They’ll be telecast from CCN to remote locations around the country on three different occasions in the summer and fall, starting in June, I think. It’s a lot of work to prepare for a CCN recording, because it requires creating all-new Power-Point slides and bringing in v ...

My co-author for, “For Young Women Only”, Lisa Rice, and I traveled to Dallas on Sunday night. We had a series of television shows and interviews on Monday, the 27th. It was one of the first chances that we’ve had to really get some good publicity for the new book “For Young Women Only”. We did not realize that the previous book that Jeff and I wrote, “For Men Only”, would negatively impact our ability to get television shows and radio shows interested in “For Young Women Only”. So, it has taken several months for us to get the TV shows interested in having me back on. It was fun for me to include my friend and co-author Lisa on this our first publicity trip for the book. I did a Dallas Morning News segment for Fox, after which we got in the car and raced over from Dallas to Fort Worth to do a live segment on FamilyNet, which is a major family te ...

This weekend was another highlight of my year. Jeff and I had received an invitation to go again to Central Christian Church - the largest church in Las Vegas. I had been there last year to do an interview with the Pastor during services, about the topic of ‘For Women Only’ and this year … they invited us back to talk about ‘For Men Only’. It’s always fun to do events together with Jeff. However, since I have been gone so much recently, I realized that we couldn’t leave our kids behind, so this weekend was wonderful because we brought our little ones with us. So, we loaded the kids on a plane very early on Saturday morning and flew out to Las Vegas, where we got there just in time for Jeff to turn on the television and watch his beloved Michigan Wolverines in the big game against the Ohio State. Unfortunately, Ohio State won, but other than that, t ...

I had a ladies night out event this evening in Lawrenceville Georgia and it was terrific. I’m going to get on the plane tomorrow, but for tonight I was glad to have a fun evening with a really neat group of ladies at a small Baptist Church in Lawrenceville.

This weekend was such a treat for me. I had been invited to be one of the speakers on the first cruise ship to be entirely charted by a Christian Women’s group. The other speakers, authors, singers and I were on board for four nights and just had a fantastic time. It was a working vacation, so there was quite a bit of time when I had to be “up” and onstage, but it was wonderful for me to be able to bring Jeff and really have some down time. And the cruise directors were fantastic in that they had asked the women on the cruise to let the artists and authors enjoy their downtime just like anyone else, and only ask for autographs or ask questions or whatever during the official sessions. And I was really pleased to see that most people really respected that. It made it really enjoyable. Read More »
