Today is the 14th of August and it was a fun day. It was the first day of First Grade for my daughter. After we picked her up from school we got her into her ballet clothes then her daddy took her off to her first day of ballet practice. I hopped in the car and headed down for an hour and a half drive to Peachtree City to do a women’s event at the First Baptist Church there.

First Baptist Church of PTCIt was sort of a “ladies’ night out” that was the kick off to their Fall Women’s Ministry season. There were 250 women in a room ready to have a good time with coffee and dessert. They had everything from little mini eclairs to little mini cheese cakes and tarts. When I got up on stage the first thing I said was that it was going to be a really fun experience doing an event like this, where I was talking to 250 sugared-up women! We all had a really, really fun time.

Tess Price is the Women’s Ministry Director at this big church and she works fulltime. She told me she does this in her spare time. She and her teamare just fabulous and I am really looking forward to hearing about the fruits that come from this event. I really hope that it will bring much fruit to their church. The other thing that was unique was that it was the very first event that I was able to do after getting my advanced copies of the new book “For Young Women Only”. We were so excited — it was just printed about ten days ago. So, this was the very first event that I had copies to bring and I was thrilled with the reception of it as people were eager to look at it for their teenage daughters and their nieces. It was a lot of fun to sort of unveil that for the first time. After we were all done and the last book was signed — it was probably about 10:15 – I was getting ready to hop in the car and drive the hour and a half back when one of the woman who had been primarily helping me at the book table ran over and handed me a big plate of yummy desserts to take home to my husband. I knew he’d be very excited about that. They said it was a little thank you to him for letting me come do the event for them and for being willing to sacrifice the evening of our kid’s first day at school. It was no sacrifice at all, it was a lot of fun.
