Last night, Jeff and I spoke on “For Men Only” at NorthStar Church in Acworth, which is West of Kennesaw and in the Northwest suburbs of Atlanta. It was a long drive; an hour and a half drive each way from where we leave in the northeast suburbs. Anyone who knows Atlanta traffic knows that it’s not easy to drive to a Friday night event on the other side of town!
But there were two good sides to this. One was that it was almost like a mini date for me and Jeff. We’ve been so busy this week, I’ve had four local events this week, so we haven’t had much time together. So, we had almost three hours in the car together to be able to catch up. And of course I had to avoid the temptation of spending the entire drive on the phone or on my Treo emailing people. So we had a great time catching up with each other on the events of the week, and having a little very welcome time together. Secondly, the event itself was absolutely delightful.
Steve Roach, the community pastor at NorthStar and his wife Amy were our hosts for the evening along with the pastor of the Church, Mike. The church was very welcoming; it was a great crowd. It was called ‘Married Life LIVE’, and a desert event for 200 couples. I had done the same exact event last year talking about ‘For Women Only’ and talking to all the women about how they need to understand their husbands. Well, this was payback time! We had a real fun time, and it was great that Jeff and I could do this together and not have to get on an airplane!
