| How good is PAY BACK? i have a friends and her boyfriend broke up with her and then told her " I STILL LOVE YOU BUT...." and now she wants to go out with his non-Christian best friend to get back at him and make him mad and i don't think its a good idea! what do y'all think?? |

| bad idea!!!!!! trust me, i know how tempting it is to get back at someone who hurt you, but this is not the way to do it!!!!! (even tho, as christians, we shouldn't at all) she will probably end up more hurt than her ex-boyfriend does. |

i agree with prettygirl! there is not a WORD in the Bible that says ANYTHING about repaying a person turn the other cheek, is what we should do! repay evil with GOOD. NOT evil with evil. sure, she shouldn't be a doormat to him, that's not what i'm saying. but i mean, she definitely shouldn't even THINK about dating that other guy, no way! keep praying for her and that her heart would be changed. and beyond that, talk to her about it, of course. she'll never know you think what she's doing is wrong if you never let her know.

| emily's rite. she shouldn't let him walk all over her, stand up to him, but don't try to get him bak. she probably should quit seeing him just cuz i know that can make it so much worse to talk with him and if he says that again. don't try to tell her that she needs to be all super nice to him tho, even tho the bible says we are to repay good with evil, now is not the time to tell her that she has to be nice. that mite drive her just to do sumthing to get bak. |

Totally! I mean ive been tempted to make guys jealous like that, But it is so true that it hurts you way more than it hurts them! for one thing, you know you're living a lie... and that can be torture!!
Keep praying for her and tell her what you think. but yeah I agree, she should probably just stop seeing him because he seems like the kind of guy (and one of my friends dated someone like that and he was such a jerk and made her believe it was her fault he was cheating/whatever...) who will say anything to make her come back to him... |

| and now she is going out with this guy and still is going out with other... by the way we worked everything out! anyway this new guy wants her to go ALL the way and she hasn't told her mom and is accting like he never said that at all and i kinda told her mom all the stuff he asked was that the right thing to do to tell her mom so she wouldn't get hurt??? |

| Its a hard situation, but I think you did the right thing... Id probably have done that too. I know how much my freinds who gave in hurt because they couldnt say no, and I dont want to see it happen to anyone else!! |

Well, I can see how that would be tempting. My high school sweetheart was a jerk and I wanted payback. I never gave him a taste of his own medicine, but I didn't handle things the right way, either.
From a biblical view, God says we're supposed to forgive people and love our enemies... which means resisting the urge to strike back. God gives us rules like that because He wants to protect us, not because He wants to ruin our fun!

| I'd say it's never a good idea to go out with someone to get back at someone.You could end up hurting a lot of people. So tell your friend to just let this guy have his time. Maybe he needs some single time, who knows.But don't go the payback route. |
